Speeding

It seems our politicians who preach at us all about creating a better society and zero tolerance are having difficulty in practicing. Our Solictor General Harriet Harman has just been caught speeding again. Back 2003 she was caught doing 99mph on the M4 and this time she has been nabbed speeding in Suffolk. Surely the Solicitor General should set the example for the rest of us to follow. Clearly the law, whilst being imposed in these cases is merely seen as an inconvenience by her. If she can't comply then a) how can you expect the rest of the slime bags in the Labour Party to do so, b) how can they and the all the other politicians in all their oleaginous splendour pontificate at the the general populace about zero tolerance and tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime! The last lot were no better with their return to Victorian values, what a joke that was.

I read in the Sunday Times (I think) that our political classes have become a tight little coterie of people who all know each other and have little knowledge of the outside world.

They've taken power away from parliament (you might even say that not all MPs belong to the political class as they have much less power) and politicised the Civil service whilst bringing in more unelected advisers.

This was a trend started under Thatcher but brought to a fine art by Blair.

Until they come in from a broader base our political system will continue to flounder and be held in contempt..........and they don't seem to see it.

Part of the problem is also the intrusive nature of the press. No right thinking person would subject themselves to having every aspect of their lives dissected and every move scrutinised. Ipso facto can we have right minded people in the corridors of power. The whole political system and system of government is beyond contempt, if Gilbert and Sullivan where still around they would be writing operatic farce about the pathetic situation we find ourselves in.

Hasn't there been some spoof musicals about Blair at the Edinburgh Fringe?

In Harriet Harman's case, the media are right to intrude. I bet she's still on the road though...

I think that she has escaped with 6 points and a fine. Why do we continue to have the perception that there is one rule for those in position and another for the rest!
